Description

BRUSCHIED
(This is the reason I started building tracks)

Background:
This track has some history for me, as I lived there when I was at the age of 5 .
We lived about 4km from the little settlement called Rudolfshaus, when about 1959 we visited a hillclimb race from “Rudolfshaus” up to a small village 2km above, “Bruschied” - it was my first race to ever visit.
I was shocked by the immense noise those Porsche 356 made with their 4 open exhaust pipes.
A few years later me and my brothers got roller skates - I fell on the forehead and had a heavy concussion and never tried it again, but there was a little road in front of our house that we tried to roll down sitting on one single skate and it worked quite well.
So off we went to conquer the surrounding mountain roads - all about 2-3km long and 5-10% slope. It was like Lemans or Nürburgring for us - full of adrenaline - happily we all survived as there was very little traffic then - maybe 2-3cars per hour.

Working on the track:
When I started building this track for Assetto Corsa 2 years ago in November, I wanted to create that hillclimb track just for memories. Searching for all the photographic footage, it was so intense for me to read all these stories around my old home: About the murderer and thief "Schinderhannes" and the Soonwald Fortresses and the poor people and miserable economy (my father had built a glass factory there but fell into bankruptcy).

I think I used about the same time for diving into history as I did for modeling .
When my road line finally arrived on mountain top in “Bruschied”, I felt it would be much nicer to have a circuit to run around:
There were some nice winding roads to follow but also boring straights and some towns which I felt over-strained to model, so I decided to create a stretch of fantasy track around the castle "Schmidtburg" and crossing the little river "Hahnenbach" (this one was our swimming pool when we lived there).

In addition, the real roads are to narrow to race, it would only fit a rally track.
So I did some infrastructural improvements to the local area and put in some road works to get about the widths of the old Nürburgring

One funny fact I found when I googled the hillclimb race "Bruschied":
There is a race ongoing again but it´s not uphill with cars but downhill on longboards:
"German downhill championship 2018 Bruschied"
https://www.boardmag.com/mag/longboard/artikel/deutsche-longboard-meisterschaft-2018
So we brothers had done nearly the same downhill racing 60 years ago – much slower of course.

The Track:

Type: circuit
Length: 12.5 km
Width: 8m
Pit boxes: 32
Direction: counter clockwise

The track starts on the main road running along the heights of the “Hunsrück” up to the village of “Schneppenbach”.

Here it turns to the left following a rough country road that is in reality just a hiking trail, passing the old castle “Schmidtburg” and downhill into the steep valley of the little river “Hahnenbach”.

Uphill again the hard winding hairpins to the little town of “Bundenbach”, passing the old houses and the dome and down again following the long softly descending main road.
The long winding slope ends with a sharp hairpin and the following part along the wide valley allows a full throttle run into the small settlement of “Rudolfshaus”.

From here it´s a sharp left turn uphill to finish the lap with the beautiful 2km hillclimb “Rudolfshaus to Bruschied” on totally fresh black tarmac.
Through the village of “Bruschied” – passing the infamous pub “Alte Linde” and the beautiful gothic church – back on the mainroad on the “Hunsrück” heights in sight of the Start/Finish line.

Warning:
The landscape is picturesque and full of forest (which I decimated for a better view) but the road is dangerous and there are no runoffs for survival.
There´s a little cemetery at the entry of “Schneppenbach” to allow for a peaceful rest for the daring drivers.
Final remark:
I dedicate the tracks that I make to the guys at Discord.me/VintageAC.
