Williams FW24 Slicks 1.2

Push the Williams FW24 to the limit with this slick-tyre upgrade for the legendary MSF F1 mod.

Description

I have long considered the MSF Williams FW24 to be one of the best ever Assetto Corsa mods. Now, thanks to the generosity of MSF in allowing me to build upon their work, the car's grooved tyres have been replaced with racing slicks. Please click on the following link to see the car in action:-
If you like what you see and intend to download the tyre-upgraded car, do bear in mind that it remains the intellectual property of MSF. As such, please consider buying the original modders a coffee via the following link:-

https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/msf-williams-fw24-f1-2002.15374/

The tyres are generic slicks that were fitted in Blender, then data-tweaked over months of testing. They are now running at about three seconds per lap faster than the grooved tyres at Monza. Similar results were generated at other tracks under extended testing.

To install, download the file and unzip. Next, EITHER copy 'msf_williams_fw24_slicks' and paste into 'cars' in your Assetto Corsa root folder, OR drop a copy on to an empty space in Content Manager, install in the usual way, then exit.

Either way, once done, open Content Manager, locate the new FW24 in your car list, then click on it to make it your active selection. The car's image should appear in the preview window. Above this, the descriptor should read 'MSF Williams FW24 Slicks'. If it doesn't, edit the descriptor so that it reads correctly and X Content Manager. Before the window closes, you will be asked to confirm the edit. Do so and exit.

And that's it. You will now be able to run both the original and slicked versions of the FW24 without conflict issues.

*PLEASE NOTE* After running a trial download to check the integrity of the files, I discovered that the tyre colour banding was no longer displaying in CM Showroom. My apologies if this has affected you. I'm unsure as to how or why this happened, but the solution is simple.

Open the car's folder and then 'extension'. Inside 'extension' there are four tyre skins - two red and two yellow. To display the red banding in CM Showroom, copy and paste the two red skins. Rename the 'S' copy as 'FCM_tire' and the 'S_blur' copy as 'FCM_tire_BLUR'. Highlight both, cut, then close 'extension'.

Open the 'skins' folder, then the 'Montoya' file contained within. Paste 'FCM_tire' and 'FCM_tire_BLUR' and exit.

The tyres will now display the red banding in CM Showroom. Should you prefer the yellow skins, follow the same procedure using the yellow rather than red skins.

Thanks once again to MSF, and to you for looking.
