Ligier JSP4 v1.1

Ligier JSP4 v1.1

Master the Ligier JSP4, an accessible endurance prototype fusing LMP performance with user-friendly handling for competitive racing

NEW

Description

Why this car?

In 2023 I went to Montmeló to the ELMS event, and the Ligier European Series was one of the support races. This car immediately caught my attention, as it was kind of a fusion of a road car and an LMP racer.
About the vehicle

Launched originally in 2018, the Ligier JSP4 is an accessible endurance race car. In 2022 the car was updated, improving its engine performance (increasing power from 330hp to 385hp) and being given better brakes derived from the LMP3 Ligier.
The driving

Being kind of a “feeder” series to more serious endurance racing, this car is quite easy-going. Weighing in at less than one tonne, and having decent aerodynamic performance, it feels very stable in high-speed corners, while maintaining good agility in slower turns.

Features

- The number plate position changes from team to team depending on the sponsors and livery. For htat, there is a "Number Plate" slider in the "Generic" setup page which allows to change the location of the number plate on the side of the vehicle

- 4 driving modes: Pre-2022 gives 330hp before the engine was updated to 385hp. The other 3 maps keep the same peak power but Rain and Standard flatten the torque curve. Rain mode is the most conservative of the 3 power maps

- 12 levels of TC and 4 levels of Engine Braking

- 10 skins, emulating the cars that competed in the 2023 Ligier European Series in Barcelona

Testing

Most of the testing was done at Barcelona. My fastest laps were high 1.51s - low 1.52s. AI was doing low 1.52s at 100% difficulty.

Paul Ricard, fastest laps where low 2.02s. “Real life” fastest laps are around 1.59. I’m sure with more time and some setup work an alien could beat the fastest lap

FFB tuned for my 7-year-old Logitech G29, so I doubt it’s anywhere near perfect

Testing was done in CSP v0.2.6, with no apparent incompatibility

Future/Updates

Add LODs and fixes to any bugs people may find. Otherwise, I consider the physics of the car and the car itself to be finished.

What next?

Mazda RX500 prototype, I’ve been putting it out for too long. Another option is to create another HIT car, but I lack the inspiration now.
