Description
The Ferrari F2002 is a truly exceptional Assetto Corsa car released by the btk150 team in 2016. Although attempting to improve upon perfection might seem foolhardy, the F2002 (as with its real-world counterpart) was shod with the abomination that are grooved tyres. The present upgrade replaces those tyres with racing slicks, and in so doing transforms an outstanding mod into one that I consider to be the best Assetto Corsa car ever released. Here's the upgraded car in action with a lap of the Nordschleife:-
Before proceeding further, I’d like to express my sincerest thanks to btk150 for allowing me to make the present upgrade freely available. In view of this generosity, please consider leaving a donation to the original modders via the link to the car provided below.

Because of certain conditions imposed on the project, this is not a straightforward download and install process. Even so, those who follow the steps as laid out below should experience little to no difficulty in getting the car up and running.

So, let’s get started.

First, download the original F2002 via the following link:-

https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/ferrari-f2002.8703/

Continue by clicking on the download button above to obtain the data files required to mediate the upgrade.

With the downloading complete, unzip the car folder to your desktop and rename it ‘ferrari_f2002_slicks’. Open the folder so that its assets are visible, then select all and delete. (Please refer to *INFO* for an explanation as to why this step is necessary.)

Next, open a second window and paste a copy of the downloaded ‘Upgrade’ folder into it. Open this folder to display its content. Select all, cut, then paste into the open ‘ferrari_f2002_slicks’ folder.

Now select and cut the ‘ferrari_f2002_slicks’ folder, paste to your desktop, then close all open windows. This completes the data swapping element of the upgrade.

Moving on to the installation, open Content Manager, and with the 'Cars' window selected, drop ‘ferrari_f2002_slicks’ into an empty area and install as normal.

Once the installation has completed, click on the new Ferrari in the Content Manager car list pane, making it your active selection. Its image will appear in the preview window. Above this the descriptor should read ‘Ferrari F2002 Slicks’. If it doesn’t, edit the descriptor so that it reads correctly, then X Content Manager, confirming the edit when prompted on exiting.

That’s the upgrade completed.

Assetto Corsa will treat the grooved and slicked versions of the car as independent vehicles. There is no risk of conflict should you choose to retain both in the AC 'cars' folder, or even run them simultaneously on track. At the time of writing, I have been doing just that for the last year and have experienced no problems whatsoever.

*INFO* The deletion and replacement of so many files and folders is a drastic but necessary step required to avoid, at best, bloating, and at worst, system crashes borne of conflicts. Given the parameters within which this project was obliged to work, the only alternative to the multiple deletions would have been for the user to manually edit hundreds of assets, an option so impractical that it would have rendered this upgrade a non-starter.

*PLEASE NOTE* The Assetto Corsa Ferrari F2002, with or without slick tyres, remains the intellectual property of the original modding team – btk150, burrito, TheJlfan, SalamanderSoldier, misterbeam, Ferrari64, and SimonTek.
My thanks to these gentlemen, and to you for looking.
