Alguecool & Pasta are proud to present the final of 3 Fairlady 2000's for Assetto Corsa!

History:
By the time Nissan launched the Fairlady Z in 1969, the ageing Fairlady 2000 was on its way out - though not without quietly fading away from the race tracks. Less restrictive regulations in domestic motorsports allowed for more and more heavy modifications to be utilized on the various production cars in Japan, with the Fairlady 2000 being a perfect example.

By 1970, many privateer drivers (Nissans works team quit racing the Fairlady 2000 in 1969) had their cars modified in every possible area: FRP body panels dropped the weight to the lowest seen yet, advanced camshaft and carborettor tuning increased horsepower levels close to 200, Wider arches were handbeaten in many small workshops in order to house the fat tires taken from the Nissan Skyline GT-R, all in all producing what was ultimately the final form of the Fairlady 2000 in GT racing.

While this heavily modified car was relegated to the "GTS" class in period, for special production sports cars, the Fairlady still performed admirably well even without factory support. While the new Fairlady Z would easily be able to beat the heavily modified Fairlady 2000, in some rare cases, a well driven example could keep up and even beat the new Z at its own game.
About the mod:
In AC, the physics have been done by Bazza and Algue, tested thoroughly by Tetri, aiming not just for historical accuracy but also for sheer racing fun. The lightweight and (relatively) powerful package is a natural recipe for fun one-make racing.

A lot of research has gone into finding the specifications of the late "GTS" racing model, with data extracted from original late 60's and early 70's Japanese Autosport magazines, Car Graphic, Auto Technic. These cars were poorly documented due to their commonness, with period reporters mostly giving all the attention to the latest and newest sports/race cars. However, we've managed to put together a good middle ground for these impressive sports cars after a lot of back and forth! A fun fact is that the mod runs on the same tires from the first Nissan Skyline GT-R, as was documented in a 1970 Autosport article on a heavily modified Fairlady.

Due to pretty big time constraints on my end and not wanting to withhold the mod from releasing for multiple years, I've asked my friend @Langheck_917 to produce some racing liveries for the car. And he absolutely nailed the 25 included racing liveries! Included are a few American liveries, his personal livery and a lot of original Japanese liveries, all expertly crafted with period decals and numbers.
Closing notes:
I'd like to give a massive thank you to @Alguecool, who made this entire 3 car project possible in the first place. Working with him has been an honor and a very enjoyable experience. His generous attitude, allowing me to up the cars here while he modeled and did all the importing work amongst many other things, is a truly kind gesture and something we don't see all that much anymore nowadays. I wish you all the best in your future career and hope to see you on the track sometime!
