Please note this is not a complete car mod. This package is only the files I have modified. There is a link located within the README.txt that will direct you to the full mod, which my files will then overwrite!

That said!
Thanks for trying my mod! If you like it, let me know, if you don't, definitely let me know! The version number may say 1.1 but I consider this mod a work in progress still. I want folks to really be pleased and enjoy this car, so I refuse to let it sit half-finished if that's the consensus!

(Below is a direct copy of large portions of the README.txt located in the .zip!)

B.Gili and his group did all of us a big favor by introducing this Mercedes into Assetto Corsa, on the surface, its an awesome mod.
But something felt off, the car felt too...planted. Too nimble in ways I wasn't expecting it to be. This is a car from the 1950s,
and I don't know about you guys but I was thrown off by the modern license plate and driver model.

So I started tweaking things and fixing them as I saw fit for a more immersive, properly driving Mercedes.
In no particular order, they include:
-Fixing the lights to work with the latest CSP pack
-Replacing the driver with a 1950s version who looks more in place among a pack of 1950s racers
-scripting out the license plate to be invisible. (Where we're going, we don't need registration)
-Replacement of the sound pack to a new one that more correctly fits the M 196 S engine

New effects included are:
-An impulse tachometer, so you can see what your RPMs were 2 seconds ago.
-Body flex has been coded in, though you wouldn't know if I told you, the frame's very rigid but hey, it felt wrong to leave it out.
-Exhaust shake removed, the pipes were clearly strapped to the frame and bolted down. Sorry.

New Physics:
-Fuel tank moved to its proper location
-Fuel capacity updated, more on that in a minute
-fuel consumption updated
-Engine parameters tweaked
-Updated gears and final drives to match real ratios used in 4 races, the Mille Miglia, Targa Florio, the Tourist Trophy, and Le Mans
-Rewrote suspension logic to implement a proper "swing axle" feeling on the rear end
-New 1950s-esque tires
-Engine and transmission damage model tuned for more proper damage
-Brakes updated to better reflect drum brakes of the era

To me, this feels more like the fire-breathing dragon that Mercedes rocked the racing world with in 1955.
The setup that comes with the car is pretty tame, you can make it looser for sure and probably get it going faster.
But remember, this is a 1950s F1 car in a nicer suit, it will try to bite you at inopportune moments.
Different gear sets reflect the tracks they were meant to be raced on. You will find the Mille Miglia set to be the most "Generalist" set,
it is also the set currently fitted to Chassis 005/55 today at Cite de l’Automobile!

The fuel capacity is set to 260 liters. Mercedes had a set of tanks they could fit to the car to match wherever they were racing it.
For more immersion, you can cap yourself to:
-200
-245
-248
or 260 liters depending on course length. The full 260 would have likely been used in the Mille Miglia or the Carerra Panamericana, for reference.

Credits for this mod shouldn't be last but I think its important to understand that all of the above wouldn't have been possible without those listed below.
-B.Gili/the MNBA Modding group for providing the car in the first place
-Supraboy981322, whose suspension and tire updates on Overtake.gg I've used as a base for building on, which helped me find some missing pieces to the puzzle
-ValentinK in the THRacing discord who provided me with tons of info from the Mercedes 300SLR bible
-Bazza and the gang at THRacing for their engine soundpack, as well as a starting point on the rear axle logic. Try their stuff!
-My wife, who has the patience of a dozen saints, having to listen to me blab about this silly silver car raced the year her mom was born.
Thanks, all of you!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the car as much as I have enjoyed getting it to where it is now.
