Quick History:
75 years ago, Briggs Cunningham showed up with two Cadillac at the 24h of Le Mans. One was a mostly stock Cadillac Series 61, the other had an odd look and was nicknamed "Le Monstre" by the French.
Le Monstre was built on the same Cadillac Series 61 chassis. It was powered by a 5.4L V8, tuned by Frick-Tappett Motors. A new lighter and streamlined body was designed in wind tunnels by Howard Weinman, aeronautical engineer at Grumman.

The first days in france were rough. Just eight days before the race, Le Monstre's front and left bodyworks were badly damaged in an accident. Briggs mechanics had to rebuild half of the body at a local metal shop.

On June 25, 1950, Le Monstre lined up to start the 24-hour race with freshly painted bodywork. It was driven by Briggs Cunningham himself and Phil Walters.
But after just two laps, Briggs beached the car in the sandbank at the end of the Muslanne straight. It took 20 minutes of digging to free the monster.
From there, the car performed well and finished 11th... right behind the stock Cadillac Coupe.
About the mod:
The original 3d model was created by Antonio Furio back in 2015. It was supposed to be used in the creation of a mod for Grand Prix Legend by the Absolute Modding Team. The project never came together. The model was un-finished and needed major optimisation to make it work with GPL.
In 2018, The Absolute Modding Team decided to share the files on the evolution-modding forum, in hope someone could take over and finish the job.
After a few messages last year, we received the authorisation to take the model, finish it and make a mod out of it for Assetto Corsa.

Nugget reworked the model. The body needed some fixing but remain mostly original. The interior, however, had to be almost completely remodelled. New dashboard, steering wheel, gauges, pedals,... and after a few weeks of work, it was ready to get imported into Assetto and get the usual treatment by everyone on the team.
Years after the original project began, this Cadillac Le Monstre can finally be driven in a racing sim.

We hope you all enjoy this odd machine
PS: A patch is planned for next week, we are racing the car this week-end in our league. Nothing better than a race to get feedback and find bugs.
